How to play Word Scramble
Word Scramble is a 10-round vocabulary sprint. Each round shows a common English word with its letters shuffled into a jumble — spot the real word hiding inside and type it. There is no hard per-round timer, but speed matters: faster solves earn bigger time bonuses. Stuck? One hint per word reveals its first letter, and a skip button cuts your losses and moves on. After ten rounds your total is tallied — part word knowledge, part quick thinking.
Controls
Type your answer into the input box and press Enter or click Submit. Click 💡 Hint once per word to reveal its first letter, or ⏭ Skip to abandon a word for no points. ▶ Start Game begins the 10 rounds and ↺ Restart starts a fresh set. Fully playable with keyboard or touch.
Tips & strategy
Look for common letter pairs first — "th", "sh", "ch", "ing" endings and double letters usually reveal a word's skeleton. Try sounding the jumble out; your ear often catches what your eyes miss. Start with the rarest letters (j, x, z) and build around them, since they have the fewest possible neighbors. Use your hint early on genuinely hard words rather than burning a minute — the time bonus you save outweighs pride. If a word refuses to resolve after 30 seconds, skip it: ten fast solves outscore nine solves plus one marathon. Keep a steady typing rhythm between rounds to stay in flow.
Scoring
Each solved word scores 10 points plus a time bonus of up to 10 extra points — the bonus starts at 10 and shrinks by 1 every 2 seconds. Wrong guesses cost nothing but time; skipped words score zero. Your highest 10-round total is saved in your browser as your best score.
